Computer use

Computer use is the ability of an AI model to operate ordinary software the way a person does: reading the screen, clicking, typing, and moving between applications to finish a task.

Also known as: computer-use

With computer use, a model works through the same interface a person would, even in applications that have no API. It interprets what is on screen and takes actions step by step, for example filling in a form or assembling results from several apps into a report.

Computer use makes AI useful for more everyday work, and it also raises the stakes of mistakes, so access limits and review remain important.
